Originally founded as an iron ore mining operation, it quickly became the inspiration for the Abolitionist Movement. Famous abolitionist, John Brown, left Kansas and bought 244 acres in the area that became known as the “Freed Slave Utopian Experiment” (he is buried on that land today). By the late 19th century, Lake Placid became a resort destination for the rich and famous. This 4 1/4” solid smooth Revel-finished red oak preserves the natural look of the wood paying homage to that perfect blend of nature and luxury.
